I felt like the movie did a wonderful job of capturing the
zeitgeist in America and the world in general. The threat of cybercrime and cyberterrorism is quite real and grows more and more each day. In this digital age, so much of the world is changing and and changing rapidly.
In the movie, Bruce Willis' character, John McClain, is brilliantly portrayed as a man caught in between times. He is an analog man in a digital world, an old dog facing a whole host of new tricks. He is left with one decision: whether he will live free or die hard.
I gave this movie 5 stars for its sensitivity to the times. In a world of endless, mind-numbing entertainment, it's refreshing and revitalizing to see a movie that really captures one's innermost thoughts and feelings. While the movie is all about technology, it also successfully reaches beyond the cyber-ness into one of man's most heartfelt needs: the need for some
good, old-fashioned violence.
Hahahaha!!! Seriously, forget the previous paragraphs. I loved this movie. The action is phenomenal: car chases, ramming people with trucks, old school fighting (
none of the flying around, kung-fu stuff), explosions, and weapons galore! Please don't reply to this and say something like, "
Oh, it wasn't realistic..." or "
It was too violent." Of course it is! It's
Die Hard!!!Plus, the snappy comebacks of Bruce Willis are priceless!
"Stupid hamster!" The Mac guy in the Mac versus PC commercials is hilarious too. I felt, he was a good counterpart to Bruce Willis' tough guy persona.
So watch the movie! It's great! My friend LA didn't like it so much for some reason. Read
his review here. I dunno what his problem is, coz for me, Die Hard is two left thumbs up!!!
